(a crypitic truth)

i sorted out some long pushed aside truths at 11 o'clock last night. over texts, a bit ironic really seeing as he did his most selfish damage over a similar media. i told him why i thought he was acting like a spoilt child, why i thought that he was stronger than that. as soon as the going gets tough he spins around drunk and blames the world. take resonsiblity man! i have accepted his apology, so now we can look each other in the eye and honestly say that there is no more elephants in the room. i have said my bit, the air is clear(ish), and yes his dimples still make me smile but that does not mean a thing.

(just to document the event for myself when i'm old and looking back at this blog and remembering)

a little adventure

don't you just love those days when you start off a day terribly and then something unexpected comes up and it turns out to be a great day.
chemistry exam on yesterday but we went for lunch at the pub afterwards and in walks two of my hobo friends ;) so we jump in cars and head off to tettanhall pools. i love little adventures like that. it was a good end to a stressful start to a day. love you all
going to miss seeing everyone at school. going to have to actually organise things. gosh!

Mark the gayboy who keps us entertained. i do love your hair mark

me and chloe such a lovely pic even if half our faces are missing.

old new memories

My south african friend and her family came to england on a holiday so i met up with them in birmingham for a few hours. probabley not the wisest thing i've ever done seeing as i have a very important chemistry exam tomorrow but i had to see this special friend of mine. she hasn't changed a bit and now i realise how much my accent has changed :D
after not seeing her for two years i thought it would be awkward but it was like we just picked up from where we left off.

me waiting for the train to go. it was too hot to sit inside it.
good couple of hours
p.s. england are out of the world cup 4-1 to germany

mixed emotions

i'm like a cocktail of emotions just floating around. different ones keep floating to the surface. i have a really good night, a laugh with friends and i feel like life couldn't get better.
but then the next day is like the biggest anticlimax. I start to think about all the things i want to do and all the stupid obsticles that keep popping up. money being the main one i suppose. Can't go to university yet, can't travel spontaneously because i have to apply for visas for each place i want to go. i mean what exactly does that leave for the right here, right now. elbow-greased-hard-work :/ great

or i'll be on facebook and i'll see a picture of my friends in SA and i can see exactly where i would be standing. It's not even that i want their lives to stand still but sometimes i wonder what my life would be like if i stayed. of course i love my life here, it's different so i suppose there's no comparison.

life is so confusing sometimes, really. God send down someone to point which way i'm meant to be going please, thanks, much appreciated.

SA game

let's make it a hatric >> three posts in one day
So in case you were wondering, SA lost miserabley against Uraguay 0-3. It was so difficult to watch, the supporters looked so sad, i was heartbroken with them. South Africa dreams pretty much crushed. Maybe if we win against france we might stand a chance. fingers crossed.

BBQ & England game

The England vs. Algeria game was sooo disappointing that we chose to inore the result and have a BBQ! wooooo! sitting around sipping cider, eating hamburgers, listening to paramore, Thrice, Minus the Bear and some insipid dunstep that was a bit annoying makes for a really good night.

and to my broken-hearted friend, remember that friends are always there to cheer you up so there's always a reason to smile xx

ok i've gotten bored of speaking in french so

i'll send you a postcard

saying goodbye x

so today was my last ever maths lesson. i have my exam tomorrow. ah i'm going to miss these guys. some of the conversations in this class will never be forgotten, you'd be surprised at the variety of topics lol

Mandeep: with her ever present sighs when the question is just not making sense, yo are not alone my friend

Suki: wit beyong measure, always made me smile and kept the whole class laughing.

Wayne: never a day without sweets to pass around. much appreciated. very fast worker

Mark: crazy hobo with the mob of curly hair

Claire: one of my bestest friends ever. she is the bearer of all miscellaneous knowledge

Emily: the 'bare love' for suki and has an A in a moaning A-level just kidding x

Ashleigh: sorting her M&Ms into colour groups. her frankness is no longer a shock

Chloe: love the smile and absolute genuineness (is that a word, well it is now)

Ruks: sweet innocence and always understanding. never known someone who works as hard as her

Scott: the quietest person i know, you're the backbone of the class mate

Alex: the one to beat, always kept me motivated and the one to ask for help but don't let him speak for too long or you'll get confused

Adam: secret ninja and alex's sidekick. doesn't stop talking to him in low undertones, who knows what can be that important

Ricky: when you turned up to class at least you kept us intertained with your comments

and all the other year 12s: you came the second year so we've not been together for as long. you're lovely and good luck for next year.

and me? i reckon they describe me as the weird foreign girl who we've all gotten used to ;)

england game

ah i feel so sorry for green.
england played USA yesterday and drew 1-1 but what a pitiful goal from USA. Fatal mistake from england's goalkeeper Green cost them englands lead and the ball rolled over the line with geen clawing at it trying to recover.
poor green looked absolutely devastated. there's so much more pressure on goalkeepers.
anyway i can't believe how much of this world cup im actually watching.

supporting two countries, woo

fare

On Saturday, my mom, my friend and her family want to a fare in town. we were walking towards the park, we saw the steam engines parading through town. That's when i realised it was a steam festival. lol yeah a bit slow on the uptake.
The date on the camera is out of date though, i'll have to figure out how to change that...

And then they get little awin the park. Nice day out with some fun people, and the sun was shining too :)

family

I recently spent some time with my cousin Travis. He moved to England before i did.

anyway i realised upon spending a couple of hours with him, how much someone can change in a small space of time, but also how much of a person stays the same. He was the same slightly cynical person but he had long hair and an eyebrow piercing. The once moody teenager has now grown into a mature, self-assured young adult although he's only 15 well nearly 16. Big changes in life can do that.

I just hope he doesn't lose his roots. I hope he remembers the berg wind of port elizabeth, the street hawkers with the naartjies and the beautiful sunsets of Africa. I hope he doesn't push that back and just put on a new face because that will always be part of him as it is a part of me.

The first picture is in titsikama with my best friend michelle, and the second a beach near Port Elizabeth and the last the only picture of travis and me with his girlfriend emily at his mom's wedding. I'm on the left.

I wonder what people at home will say when they see me next, how much have i changed?

KT Tunstall - Black Horse And The Cherry Tree

I absolutely love this song.

slightly annoying

so my mom and i realised that our passports were going to expire soon so being good immigrants in England (yes there are such persons) we looked into how to renew it. and so starts the process that eventually lead to me nearly biting my tongue off to stop myself exploding with verbal abuse all over the policeman over the counter...

do you know what the form B73 is?? no? well neither do i. there are so any different forms all so specific that its impossible to find the right one. so we make a choice, still not sure, and send them off. two weeks later we get a letter telling us we sent the wrong ones.

ok alright which are the right ones? you'd assume they'd tell us wouldn't you? nooooo of course not we had to phone someone who conected us to someone else at the south african embassy who had to get his manager and then put us on hold while they found out what to do.

well we finally got the answers. THREE different forms. i must say my mom and i have the funniest conversations while on hold. i believe one involved the purpose of a hole in bagels. still dont know

Anyway so we fill them out. fine. realise we need fingerprints on one of them. phone them up. they tell us we have to go to LONDON to the embassy to do them. when they realised our we weren't too impressed by that answer the guy said we can go to any police station in our area. so we walk down to our local police station. they don't have holding cells so they can't do them.
off to the one uptown we go. stand in line behind a guy who's responding to a bailiff warning or something. shaved head, big puffy jacket, sneaking a smoke outside every now and then. after about half an hour we get to the front, smelling like an ashtray and we ask if can have our fingerprints taken and we show all the forms and identification only to be told we should have made an appointment. grrrrrr!

we make an appointment for the next day. The next day we arrive with all our forms ready we get to the front; they say take a seat we'll call you when we're ready for you. so we wait while a girl pretty much sits on our laps trying to squeeze on a seat while talking loudly to her boyfriend about contraception. 45!!!! minutes later we speak to an officer who very politely tells us we need our photos signed by a professional before we can have our fingerprints taken.

This is the point where i could have drawn blood from biting my tongue. Surely they could have mentioned this the day before?!

and that is where we're at now, phoning the doctor's to try and get them to sign our photos but, of course because luck has decided to disown me, there are no appointments until the end of june. and they won't just see me for a few minutes.

this may be the longest post i've ever written. well that's the life in the shoes of an South African immigrant in England. lol ah well life here is more good than bad. and it's fun to tell the stories.

Florence + The Machine - Kiss With A Fist

i love this song but i have to admit this video is a bit odd, to me it doesn't fit. maybe my interpretation is a bit different than intended...
